Airports of Montenegro on December 18th 2024, starting at 09:30 at the CUE hotel, are organizing a workshop called “European goal of transports’ decarbonization “. The workshop is organized within the framework of the EU project “cONnecting CLOse and Unexplored Destinations with New INter-Adriatic transport sErvices+” – ON CLOUD NINE+, in which the Airports of Montenegro participate as a partner institution, together with institutions from Italy and Albania, and which is implemented within the framework of the EU of the Interreg IPA South Adriatic program (Italy-Albania-Montenegro 2021-2027).

The workshop will gather participants among target groups and stakeholders of the project and it will focus on EU targets to be achieved by the EU aviation sector under the EU Parliament regulation and Commission’s proposal. The goal is to decarbonize a sector that to date accounts for 13.4 percent of total Co2 emissions from EU transport. In this sense, the workshop will provide useful information about the future perspectives of the sustainable fuels in EU and Montenegro, with particular attention to the new list of “sustainable aviation fuels” includes synthetic fuels, some biofuels produced from agricultural or forestry residues, algae, organic waste, or used cooking oil, but also those derived from recycled carbon, produced from waste treatment, and exhaust gas from the production process in industrial plants.

Representatives of the Airport of Montenegro, the Railway Transport of Montenegro, the Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Northern Region Development, the Ministry of Transport, the company To Montenegro, as well as representatives of partner institutions from Italy, and decarbonization experts will speak at the workshop.
